Disconnecting so that you can reconnect to your work with purpose

Boundary Waters, Burntside Lake, MN

How has your summer been? Have you spent time away from your work?

I recently spent time in the North Woods of Minnesota along the Boundary Waters. It is a place my family goes every summer. It is breathtaking, inspiring and simple. It is hard to get any cell service. Your laptop doesn’t connect. There are no televisions. It is truly a place where you can disconnect from the outside world of 24-hour news cycles, social media, texts, phone calls, emails…. You get the idea.

So, what happens when you disconnect from all of that? You can selectively choose where you can connect with the world and people in that space. You can be where your feet are in the moment. You can give attention where you choose.

For me, I chose to focus my time to connect deeply with my children, my husband, and myself. It is what I usually do each year. I know where I want to focus when I have this opportunity. I have the intention to do this.

This applies to business too. Sometimes you need to completely disconnect so you can find the right place to plug in and focus.

Are you constantly jumping from task to task?

Right now, if you shut everything down and had to spend one morning doing work for your business, what would you do?

To focus you need to not only have the attention, but you must have the intention.

The more clarity you have in your business, the easier this is to do. If you have a well-thought out plan, you will know the actions that will bring you closer to your goals….and your purpose.

When was the last time you disconnected and then reconnect with purpose? What did you do?

Can you use help to gain clarity on your goals so you can fully focus to make progress? Do you want some help to figure out how to find time to have attention for deep work and figure out what deep work (or intention) will help you more quickly grow your mission? I am here to help you.
